The 16618 is old-school gold Submariner. Full 18k yellow gold case and bracelet, deep blue dial, and - this is key - the classic aluminum bezel rather than ceramic. Collectors dig that vintage look.
Unlike the newer models, the bezel insert here is aluminum with a gold 60-minute scale. It has a different character than ceramic - some would say more charm. The bezel still only rotates counterclockwise for safe dive timing.
The Oyster bracelet in solid gold comes with the Fliplock extension - predecessor to today's Glidelock. With 300m water resistance and the Triplock crown, you've got a real professional dive watch underneath all that gold.
The blue dial with gold hour markers and Mercedes hands is classic Submariner. The lume on hands and indices does its job when the lights go out.
