The Submariner 114060 is about as clean as dive watches get. No date window means the dial stays perfectly symmetrical – just the way purists like it. The 40mm Oystersteel case sits right on most wrists without looking too big or too small.
That black dial with Chromalight lume reads well in pretty much any conditions. The hour markers are oversized and the hands are chunky enough that you can tell the time at a glance – underwater or just checking the clock during a meeting. The Cerachrom ceramic bezel won’t scratch and the color won’t fade from UV exposure.
You get 300 meters of water resistance, a Triplock crown, and a bezel that only turns counterclockwise. That last bit matters for diving – you can’t accidentally bump it and think you have more air time than you do.
The Oyster bracelet comes with a Glidelock clasp that extends up to 20mm without tools. Handy if you’re wearing it over a wetsuit or your wrist swells in the heat.
Rolex made the 114060 from 2012 to 2020, making it the last 40mm no-date Sub. It’s become a bit of a classic for folks who want a dive watch in its purest form.
