The Milgauss was Rolex's 1956 answer to engineers and physicists working near MRI machines and particle accelerators: a soft-iron Faraday cage inside the case shields the movement from magnetic fields up to 1,000 gauss (mille gauss, hence the name). Reference 116400 is the discontinued no-orange-accent variant, the cleaner sibling to the GV.
40mm 904L steel case with a smooth polished bezel, white lacquer dial, applied black baton indices and the orange lightning-bolt seconds hand that nods to the original 1950s model. Green sapphire crystal is the signature flourish, a tinted hue Rolex calls "glace verte."
Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp. Japanese tier runs Miyota 9015; Swiss tier uses a 3131-clone with the antimagnetic shield carried over. 100m water resistance.
